A VERY BRIEF HISTORY

The Club was formed in 1901 and celebrated its centenary on 16th January 2001.There are now many Siamese cat clubs, but we were the original one to cater exclusively for the Siamese cat,so whatever the colour of your Siamese you are welcome to join us.

CLUB AIMS

The Club aims to provide advice and guidance,to take any action necessary for the welfare of Siamese cats, to promote a better understanding of the breed and to provide a means by which people interested in Siamese cats can communicate and exchange views

Mr. John Shewbridge – Prefix TAMRUAT

It is with much sadness I have to advise all those who knew John that he died in early July 2008 – his funeral took place on the 11th July 2008 at Harlow Crematorium
John was truly a great character and I understand he began breeding in 1966 and bred many famous cats under the prefix Tamruat which included both Siamese and Oriental Blacks. He became a member of the Siamese Cat Club in 1976 and during this time he became Chairman of the Club and on his retirement from Committee he was made an Honorary member for the invaluable service and support he had given the club.He was a full judge of many breeds, including of course Siamese , Balinese and also Asian, Bengal, Korat, Maine Coon, Ocicat, Oriental Longhair and Self, Ragdolls, Self Persian and Tonkinese.
Until ill health overtook him John was, together with his wife, very active on Committees – Show Management and the SCJAC – he and Pinkie were Show Managers of the Supreme Show for a number of years as also the Bedford Cat Club.  Apart from the Siamese CC he was also an active member of the Blue Point SCC.  He had served as a Delegate for Council for numerous years and I understand he served on Executive. He had also been Chairman of the SCJAC.as well as being a representative for many years. In the latter years  John unfortunately suffered ill health and his presence was greatly missed at shows and committees – a man who dearly loved his and all cats – a great character who will be sadly missed. On behalf of the Club & Committee I send our deepest sympathy to Pinkie and his family.
Jean Murchison – Hon. Secretary
